Originally from Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Chris is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jujitsu under legendary fighter of the BJJ founding Gracie family, Master Renzo Gracie (7th-degree coral belt), & world renown BJJ coach Professor John Danaher (coach to leading athletes including 2 Division UFC Champion “Georges St-Pierre”, Adcc champions “Gordon Ryan’ & “Gary Tonon”).
Fluent in Portuguese, having trained for 7 years in Brazil under international BJJ champions Alexandre “Gigi” Paiva, The Vieira Brothers, & Charles De Franca. Having been an active BJJ competitor & multiple time IBJJF, NAGA, Grapplers Quest & Grappling Industries champion.
Also a personal trainer with over 20 years experience, Chris has a wide variety of clients ranging from special populations & senior citizens, to Olympic level & professional athletes.

Our Head Sensei, Chris Reymann, has spent over 25 years learning martial arts & understands the frustration of feeling lost & disconnected from moves out of context, especially while traveling abroad. After returning to the United States from 7 years in Rio, Chris met Jeremy Lieberman, the Godfather of A.I. & Grounded Language Learning.
Chris then spent 15 years studying under John Danaher in the blue basement at Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City, where he learned how to apply Grounded Language Learning to a systematic approach for learning martial arts. John Danaher’s students achieved countless championships using his methodologies, & he even explained the importance of Grounded Language Learning on The Lex Friedman Podcast. This same system is what we utilize at Grapple Box LLC to ensure that you never feel lost or stagnant in your martial arts learning journey.
